Mange exposure

There was a fox hanging around on our deck and roaming the property. It was itching a lot while on the deck and stayed a while. His coat looked mangy and/or flea bitten. I picked up poop in 3 different places on the yard and driveway and then poured bleach on the spot. I talked with our local conservation officer and he said they have seen several fox with mange in the last couple of weeks. I was also concerned about leptospirosis but he wasn’t aware of any cases of lepto.
How likely is it that Buxton will get mange? What can I do to prevent it? Would mites be left on the deck where the fox was itching? Would the mites be in the lawn?

Thank you!
Debbie

Buxton did not have direct exposure.

Thank you for the informative handout!

The fox is gone now and I hope he doesn’t come back!

Focus on not worrying and doing everything you know to build his immune system.
  • love him
  • play his favorite mental and physical games
  • groom him
  • feed the very best local fresh food
  • Offer energy healing you may know (Reiki, Eden energy, Theta, WEBB, etc)
  • Gently tap the area between his from legs where it starts to get soft after the sternum - thymus area.
