pet's name- Rahji
age- 10
sex- Male
Neutering status- desexed
Breed- Long hair
Approximate weight 3.5kg
BEAM (behavior, energy, appetite, mood)-
Energy levels are lower, lounges around alot, hungry usally but wont eat alot of food/fussy.
Diet- raw meat organ mix with a bit of tinned food to encourage him earing the raw food
Vaccination history / exposure to toxins, other medication- hea unvaccinated and hasnt had exposure to much medication or toxins

Hello, my Cat Rahji is 10yrs old has alot of plaque on his teeth, the vet said its getting towards stage 4. They took bloods and everything came back fine although they said he is anaemic and they wouldn't want to give him anaesthesia until he is more stable.

I dont know what is causing the anemia

He is on a raw diet consisting of organs and raw meat but because he is fussy from eating main stream tinned cat food for alot of his life its hard to get him to eat much.

We have had to find the cleanest tinned food we could that we now place a little bit ontop of his raw food which helps him eat the raw blend- here is the link to the tinned food we use as a topper- ZIWI® | Wet Canned Chicken For Cats

This is the only way we could get him to eat the raw blend.

My question is i really need some advice about the teeth and if its possible to heal them naturally without getting the dental clean done and if so which specific supplements/protocols will help.

Second question is what could be causing the anaemia and what supplements can we give to support him

We are also trying ti manage a flea infestation and natural remedys arent working well

Hey Matthew!

I'm sorry to hear about Rahji's challenges.

Perhaps see if he'll gnaw on a raw chicken, duck or turkey neck.

There are other kitty physical dental stimulating treats, but availability will depend on your location.

Proden PlaqueOff and similar seaweed products are helpful:

Regarding the physiologic challenge, a full blood and urine testing workup would be the first step to learning more.

What is his blood count # and or other test results?

hi thanks for your reply, he wont eat any food with bones and really hard to brush his teeth with anything, he does have kelp in his food. Here are some attachments for his bloods and patient history. He hasnt had any urine problems since going on a raw diet, let me lnow if you are able to see the blood results ok

Wow, what a beautifully thorough vet report.

Here's your answer, from the vet notes, to the low red blood cell parameters:

low normal RBC count PLUS smallerRBCs + lower HGB carrying capacity. Hard to know if this is due to the extremely high flea burden
