Not too long ago our dog Koa was hospitalized with Parvo. Our other dogs did not contract it (thank goodness). However, Koa now has this spot on his upper back, right shoulder area (don’t know anatomy for dogs). Does anyone know what this could be? Our vet just said it could be a reaction to a shot. Thank you in advance ??

Yes Elizabeth, it could be a reaction to one of the injections he received in the hospital, or from a vaccine (as Nova saw).

In the pic it looks purplish. Is that from something topical?

How's Koa's BEAM?

Good to know, that is what the vet told us.

Thank you @novasimpson for sharing that ??

Yes, the purple is from some ointment my parents put on to keep flies away.

Does it heal on its own? What is BEAM @Dr. Jeff?

Christine, I'd appreciate if you describe BEAM to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth, you can also read more about it by searching this forum and logging into your HA! member resource center and searching there.

Have a great Solstice tonight!

I feel so left out LOL I will look it up right away!

Thank you! It’s actually cloudy and a bit cold here in Wyoming.
