Lola’s rabies titer came back less than .5 but her distemper came back ok. Last distemper vaccine was in 2015 and rabies 2017.
There is an additional test they can run to get exact number but I thought you are either immune or not?
Her therapy dog program accepts titers but it has to be greater than .5 even tho Ct doesn’t accept rabies titer.
I will be speaking w Dr Jeff tomorrow .
I’m disappointed since I wanted to prove a point but it backfired

Hi Judy-

I'm glad to hear that Lola's distemper and parvo titers were OK.

Yes, dogs often have immunity for longer than 3 years from the rabies jab, but whether they do depends on the balance of the immune system.

Like many things in medicine, immunity is not a yes or no situation. An individual may be immune to a lower level of exposure, whereas a higher level may trigger a disease.

That's the chief reason we've all been sheltering at home recently. Doing so reduces our immune systems exposure to the virus.

Regardless, because Lola needs to be "legal", now is a splendid time for us to talk about optimizing her balance. This will help prepare her immune balance for the rabies jab. I'm very glad that we're talking tomorrow.

Great video, Dr. Jeff - gave me some good laughs.

Judy, remember that there is cell mediated immunity if there ever was a titer, so there is protection. Unfortunately, that fact does not help when the law or even class regulations need the titer.
