Cat not eating pre and post move

My cat Winston (4 years old) loves going outside (we supervise him) for multiple times in the day or once a day). Full of energy started to not eat certain things like he once loved pre move. Example freeze dried minos. Before we moved he tried to eat them but then he looked like he couldn't chew them. His teeth has been checked multiple times by his vet and they say they are okay (his gums are still a bit red) He's only known his before house for his whole life. Usually skidish of people as we lived in the country side. Always goes outside like I said before. We moved a week ago into our new house and it's by a school so it's much louder and tons of people walking by. We don't yet have curtains (I'm working on them) and it has big windows looking onto the busy street. He's been hiding all day and seems like he is up during the night. As he always comes to bed when I go to bed too.... he's eating less. He is almost picky in his eating. Tonghit was bad... I came home and he wouldn't purrrrr for me and he always does very easily I might add and wouldn't play with me either...

Anything I can do to help him through this transition?
I am struggling with this transition. :(
I am going to try to take him outside tomorrow at the times the street isn't so busy in the back yard...

Thanks <3

I'm sorry to hear about Winston's transitional challenges.

Is there anything he love, love, loves in addition to going outside?

My own super scared pup just had a play date and transformed from a trembling and scared bundle of nerves into a happy girl. As soon as she started engaging with another dog.

Also, consider using Dr. Jean's Stress Stopper flower essence:

And I bet she has other flower essence recommendations to ease the stress of the move.

And in time, given love and support, Winston's happy and energetic being will return. It's a rule of nature.

Moving can certainly be a challenge.
This would be a perfect time for EFT. Check out several recordings on that. EFT would help you which would definitely help kitty, and can directly help the cat as well.

Flower essences for sure as Dr. Jeff suggested.

Possibly an animal communicator - several recordings from them.

Be sure to listen to Anitra Frazier's recordings - she talks cat. Also I would recommend ordering her book as she has a lot about moving and also it is a great reference for any specific problems.

It is fine to not eat much right now.

Hiding for now is great. Provide a great hiding place and hang out there with your cat,. Super safe, as quiet as can be, maybe the last room to get unpacked, Or it was the first room and no need to go back in. patience, sending happy thoughts. Place quiet music. time your outdoor trips when quiet (6 AM, 8 PM, etc).

Happy times are coming for all,
Dr. Christina

Ah, thanks for mentioning Anitra. She is wonderful and also does phone consults to help with issues like this. You can reach her at:

All great suggestions, I would emphasize flower essences and EFT - simple and effective!

Also add Play Therapy... anywhere a cat hunts becomes her safe territory. Here's all about it: Play Therapy | Little Big Cat - Dr. Jean Hofve

Thanks so much for the feedback. Any chance you have a recommended supplement I can get in Canada? My husband is a photographer and he knows a lady in our town that is an animal communicator! So we will touch base with her. He loves foods like sweet potatoes, chickpeas, avocados, playing with balls specifically and watching me cook. He has not been doing any of those. But also last night we took him outside and it seemed to help a bit. Still hiding during the day but comes out in the evening in the living area to hang with us.

Thanks so much for your feedback! Winston seems to love the high frequency music I play for my yoga sessions. So I will be doing that. My husband knows an animal communicator so we will for sure reach out to her. PS. What do you guys mean when you say flower essences? Is that a different supplement or get some flowers in the house? LOL.

It may be wise to treat this as a total "new cat" situation since it is all new for him. The whole house may be too much for him. Try creating a base camp and introducing everything gradually:
Base Camp -- How to Prepare for your New Cat | Little Big Cat - Dr. Jean Hofve

Maybe try canned food like Fancy Feast (almost all cats will eat it!) so he gets complete nutrition now, not just one food at a time. Then gradually transition back to a well-balanced homemade diet after he's comfortable and eating well.

UPDATE: He is eating fancy feast a bit more than usual.... I booked him a vet visit for tomorrow just incase there's something more.... His back legs are wobbly. :( and his balance seems more off today. Still not purring or playing. Watches the toy move some bit but doesn't engage and then looses interest.
