Pumpkin
18 year old Maltese/Lhasa Apsa neutered male. 15 lbs.
BEAM is 5.
Mostly raw, some freeze dried and kibble.
Minimal vaccinations/medications
I've been giving him Infinite Pet Life Hip and Joint Advanced Formula (Glucosamine 250mg, turmeric, Chondroitin 100 mg, and MSM 100 mg), two servings a day. It helps, but there is room for improvement. Other therapies I use are a good amount of energy healing, other supplements when his digestive system can tolerate it, and he recently started sleeping on an earthing sheet. He's had respiratory issues for a year or so where when he takes a deep breath while lying down, he'll make wheezing/stridor sounds. Homeopathy was unable to cure it as was throat-soothing tea. When he got a dental last year, the vet didn't seem concerned about it, but at the homeopath's request, I had her look into his throat during surgery. They didn't notice anything abnormal. I read that glucosamine can cause allergic reactions so to notify vet if there are any respiratory issues. Maybe the glucosamine is exacerbating his breathing issues? I'm wondering if I should also take him to another vet for the throat issues. Maybe there's a blockage in his throat, such as a tumor, but when he had his dental done, I'm sure the x-ray included his throat, right?
Aside from that I just bought some hyaluronic acid. Any other recommendations?
