How to use homeopathics for Rabies vaccines as followup to the 3 year rabies vacine for 17 year old cats

I thought I read something here but cannot find it now about the possibility of using homeopathics to avoid rabies vaccines. My cats are 17 and 18 and have thyroid and kidney challenges. Their 3 year purevax rabbies vaccines is up for renewal. What should I do?

Honestly, only a monster would insist upon vax for these guys. Perhaps you can find a vet who would write an exemption for them, on health issues. Homeopathic remedies do not, can not, confer "immunity" - although chances are that if these guys have had previous vaccinations they are still quite immune. Homeopathy can help adjust a subject to neutralize the ill effects of inoculation, past or recent, if there are identifiable symptoms. If you have an understanding vet practitioner, they should be able to write a waiver for health reasons for these old guys. Good luck...

Personally I would not vaccinate them. That is really asking for it, and no homeopathic remedy is going to stop the damage, particularly at that age and with chronic illnesses. Someone in another group vaccinated their 20 year old dog for rabies who was suffering from a couple chronic illnesses. The dog got very ill and died a few months later. He may have died soon anyway but he would not have suffered as much and who really knows if he may have lived longer.

My dogs are both 16 and I have not vaccinated them for rabies since they were one year old. In my state there are no exemptions, so I exempt them myself. One dog did have seizures following the rabies vaccine so it is particularly important for her not to have any more vaccines.

If your cats are indoor, just do not ever call Animal Control. One friend/client did that because there was a bat in the house. Her 18 y.o. cat was 2 weeks over due for Rabies vaccine and animal control insisted on a 6 month quarantine in a cage at a window so they could visit the house and check from the outside.

Every town is different and even many conventional vets do not do Rabies in older, indoor cats.
In the 101 course - *In 2020 the 18 states that accept rabies vaccine waivers are: Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin.

Maybe I should get one of those consults you offer here about it. I live in one of these states. BUT they go outside and there ARE racoons that come right up on the deck and to the back door. Live bordering a small wooded area. The racoons and cats seem to be fine with each other. They seem to coexist. ( could teach us all a lesson in that) but the exposure risk is stil there. I will look at the these resources you listed.

Have you considered getting a rabies titer? It is not legal, however you would know if the immunity is there. My dog is 16 and still has a positive titer from her rabies vaccine at age 1.
