Hi @Dr. Jean Hofve, @Dr. Jeff and @Dr. Christina,

We will be moving from CA to TX and would like to know if you have any advice on minimizing stress to our kitty during the move. She was a stray and a kitten when we rescued her - the home we currently live in is all she knows. Thank you.

Best,
Christine

Hi, here is some info on traveling with your cat. (It needs a little updating but it's got your basics.) When moving, start flower essences well before the moving date--at least 2 weeks, even better at the same time you are packing boxes.

Congratulations on your impending move Christine.

She should be fine with the move.

Keep her in her kitty box and restricted to one room once you arrive in TX.

And have fun! 🤩

You probably know most of this, so a reminder. Your state of mind is most important. While moving can be stressful to all, it is also a great opportunity, fun, new experiences. Growth.

Communicate the fun side to your kitty. New home, new smells, we are always with you, we love you, this move is great for all.....etc.

As with giving the essences ahead of time, have a few toys/blankets/carrier be part of her daily at the old home, then on the trip and then in the new home.

Listen to anitra Frazier's 2 webinars to stay positive, and read those sections in her book, the Natural Cat.

Maybe have an animal communicator session.

Line up possible local holistic vets in Texas to check out when you arrive.

Be sure you make notes in her journal of what you are doing and how she does. Include in pretty colors the wonderful experiences she has.

enjoy the trip and Texas!

flower essences
Thank you, @Dr. Jean Hofve for the wonderful resource - is there any specific flower essence you'd recommend? The drive will be 20+ hours...How do we best feed her? She's on raw food diet. I'm thinking to start her on some freeze-dried (by Green Juju) food weeks before the move so we can give her that on the trip. What are your thoughts on that?

Thank you, Dr. Christina, for your suggestions. You read my mind - I have already checked for holistic vets and pet supply stores in the area we'll be moving to :) I know we're in good hands because we are already working with Dr. Jeff :)

I have also reached out to our favorite animal communicator for a session - we want to know directly from our kitty how she feels about the move and how we can minimize stress for her. I look forward to her guidance :)
