Hi there, prepping for mosquito season and will be starting heartgard tablet every other month starting in may/june. We have some heartgard left over from last year that hasnt expired. Is it ok to use without going to vet to get test beforehand? Also, do you have to get a test and prescription for heartgard moving forward? We like to limit our vet visits to avoid getting hounded for vaccines and feeding raw

You can use the heartgard from last year.
It is best to get the test before starting it again. Are you already seeing mosquitoes? No need to start until it is warm enough that temps stay above 50 degrees F most of the time. Be sure to learn all about the heartworm cycle and how the "preventative" works. It actually kills several stages of the migrating larvae after entering the mosquito bite wound. More of a morning after pill.
