My name is Shana and I just joined the group! My babies are a 14 year old Maltese, Claire, and a 5 year old poodle, Keno- both rescued me and I love the heck out these 2!! Raw feeding, non vaccinating and I know what homeopathic treatment can do for your pet!! I had left Dr Jeff's fold for a while, due to a crazy new career, but now I am back and once again need assistance with Claire who was just diagnosed yesterday with a tumor in her abdomen. :( Not sure how this is going to play out, but we are going to give it all we have! I was really hoping she was going to be that 20 year old companion, because THIS time we did things so much differently- but, I have to say this, Claire's years have been so much better than our previous 13/14 year olds that preceded her that were raised by vaccinating and eating crap! LOL Any words of wisdom are welcome and I am excited to be in the forum!!

Wow, welcome Shana, it's awe-some to see you here!! :snowman:

But I'm so sorry to hear about Claire's tumor diagnosis.?

We'd all love to hear more about her history, BEAM, diagnostic test results, etc. (and see those pics) in a new thread in the cancer folder.

Would you also share some recent pics of her and possibly even use one (and/or you?) for your profile picture?

Thanks!?

Wow snow in TX and a Princess on her throne!

Beautiful!☃️

Ok, addressing your snowman first with pics because they are happy pics & crazy, unprecedented, once in a lifetime, snowfall in TX last Sunday!! Lol Next pic is Queen Claire (NO photo posing- we put her in bed & walked in a few minutes later to find this!☺️)

Sorry, I didn't intend to post the pics just yet, because I had not answered all your questions-oops!

Claire was rescued from a puppy mill at the age of approx 2-3 years old. Her condition at that time was pretty sad. She had severe ear infections that had gone untreated for who knows how long and the infection had destroyed one ear drum completely and the infection had progressed to the point that it had softened her skull. The rescue facility and their vets started treating her immediately and when we adopted her they had got a lot of the infection under control, but we knew that she was going to lose one, maybe both ears. The specialist had to completely remove one ear (an "ablation") and sew it shut, and she was able to keep one ear, although it was full of lumps. Apparently all of this was caused from severe skin allergies, neglect, and poor nutrition. At first we changed her over to raw food but still had to limit what meats were in the food. She would have a severe reaction to ANY beef products. Homeopathic guidance rectified and turned her life around! Now she is able to eat any kind of meat without allergic reactions. This makes her very happy because she is an AVID eater!! LOL

We hit pause with her homeopathic care due to some life craziness a few years ago. Fast forward, she is now approx 14 years old and 2 months ago she stopped finishing her raw duck night that she gets in the evening. Hmm, ok, tooth issue??? So we gave her the same ground food she has in the morning, and this was fine for a while. Early December I weighed her to monitor her weight and make sure she was getting a comparable amount of food since we stopped the duck necks, and she had lost a pound. In mid December, we noticed that there were some meals that she didn't finish and walked away from, UNHEARD of for her!! But it wasn't every meal, no rhyme or reason, not any meal in particular (AM/PM). This was also during the holidays, so maybe it was all the excitement/guests-human and dogs/travel, etc?? BEAM, was excellent, except for her appetite and her annual check up was scheduled for January 15, so I held off.

Tuesday she turned up her nose and didn't eat at all and was not excited to get up that morning, almost lethargic- OK, time to get to a vet, ASAP! Sure enough, she had lost another pound and there is a tumor in her belly that the vet saw on the ultrasound. He thinks it is on her spleen, or a slight possibility of her liver. She had abnormal things in her blood work, which has never been the case. He gave us some really soft food to try to entice her to eat and we have been mixing it with her raw food and have GREAT success over the past two days! Dr Jeff made some recommendations of freeze dried that makes a gravy and I am just waiting for that to arrive. I see a significant turn around in her BEAM symptoms, her energy, appetite and mood is greatly improved (she was dancing around this morning for her breakfast and ate like a champ!) Needless to say, we have scheduled time with Dr Jeff and a specialist, so I will keep you posted!!
