@Dr. Jeff - Thanks so much for that recommendation! Not just for Bobby but for my mother, who has worsening osteoporosis. I'll actually be discussing the results of her most recent scan with her doctor on Monday, and I just know she's going to recommend fosamax (which I'm hesitant to get her...
Great info from both of you, thanks! I love hearing both perspectives. My gut feeling (right or wrong) is that Bobby should maybe stay on the MSM for the duration of his most crucial post-surgery tissue regeneration (However long that is? Thoughts?), but then taken off an only be used for acute...
Thanks for your input @Dr. Jean ! Yeah, I thought that 4000mg of EPA/DHA was a bit high as well (Bobby's 65#). When we first got Bobby, I had no access to holistic doc care information yet, so I thought, "I'm just going to trust the professionals until I know more what I'm doing." Just because...
@Dr. Jeff - Thanks as always for the info! I actually just completed your intake form. Take a look at it and let me know how long of an appointment I should book with you (assuming you're taking on new clients, and if you're not, I'll definitely check out every one that you and Dr. Christina...
Thanks as always @Dr. Jeff . I think it's time that Bobby had a full evaluation by a holistic vet in order to optimize his health. I posted a question to Dr. Christina in this thread about whether it would be just as effective to have a remote holistic vet + an in-person open-minded conventional...
@Dr. Christina - Yes, I agree with you and @GinnyW . Bobby needs a full analysis and optimization plan. Would having a remote holistic vet, in combination with a trusted conventional-but-open-minded vet for things requiring an in-person visit, be just as effective as driving Bobby 40+ minutes...
Great info @Dr. Jeff ! No, he's not currently lame, but he does still have a little occasional weakness in his surgery leg (occasional nail drag or quick switch to stronger leg when turning or getting up/down. But over all, the surgery leg is strong; he consistently puts weight on it, no...
Ok, good, that kinda puts me at ease. I can't say that I'm happy with how overreactive I get, but (1) a lot of past trauma with animals (and people) around illness has made me this way, so I try to forgive myself, because my heart is so much in the right place, and (2) like I said, my...
Bobby's surgeon (corrective wedge osteotomy in October 2021) recommended 4000mg of total EPA/DHA (including what's in his food) and Dasuquin for Bobby for long-term joint support after his surgery in October. The surgeon recommended GNC Triple Strength Fish Oil (1000mg per capsule) and Dasuquin...
That crossed my mind. We've only had Bobby 7 months (and 4 months of that was surgery recovery on his leg) so I've had a lot to research/implement in a short amount of time. There's no way I could get him optimized that quickly. I just wish there was a way to keep him on conventional pest meds...
After Bobby's first flea comb, I found a single piece of flea dirt on the back of his neck, but no fleas. Also did a scratch and search in the white-floored kitchen (never been so happy to have a white floor), but no flea dirt. Decided to put some Cedarcide on his neck and face (not a lot, gave...
@GinnyW - Thanks for the reassurance! Considering how wound up I can get about things, last night I was surprisingly calm about it (still read as much of Dr. Christina's book as I could, but surprised that I (1) went to bed at a reasonable hour, and (2) slept through the night. These types of...
@Dr. Jeff
Found a flea on Bobby's face tonight. ? Combed him with the flea comb, but didn't find any more. It's too late for a bath or anything (9:30pm). What should I do tomorrow?
Edit: I'm reading Dr. Christina's book, but I tell me anyway. I'm in newbie semi-panic mode. Might have just been...
@Dr. Christina
I have Herb Pharm Calendula Oil (Whole Flower). Can I use this on Bobby's scabs/wounds where he's been scratching the inside of his ears (outer ear, NOT inner ear)? If so, do I have to dilute it or is it already diluted since it's in olive oil?
Update: Cedarcide Original is much better tolerated by Bobby. He ran away as soon as he saw the little spray bottle (probably thinking it was the Wondercide), but stood still while I rubbed it on him, front and back. He still didn't like it, but he tolerated it WAY better (and it's 10% cedarwood...
@LilF - the Cedarcide Original showed up yesterday and it's not as strong smelling as EO or Wondercide. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm praying that Bobby will be ok with it. I don't spray him directly ever (the PSST sound is too much for him, and there's no way to control overspray), so I always...
Bobby's ears have been itchy this Spring, and we're doing all we can to get him into balance, but until then, he's scratched the inside of his ears in a couple spots until they're bleeding. A scab will form, which is great, but then he scratches it open again before it's fully healed. What can...
Just checked out their website. I'm going to try their cedar granules in the yard and their Cedarcide Original on Bobby. It's got a higher cedarwood percentage than Wondercide. So glad I love the smell of cedar! I still want to get Bobby used to the EO Away as well, since it's got Eucalyptus in...
Yeah, he's definitely "I'm outta here!" with the essential oils. He's fine with me putting it on his back legs, tail, and butt, but the closer I get to his head, the quicker he slinks off. I try to use as little as possible, and the Wondercide Cedarwood is the least "sharp" smelling to me, so I...
