Gizmo, 1 year 8 mos;
neutered male.
DSH
Beam 9/10 (sneezing) Otherwise playing, eating fine.
Diet is rehydrated raw food.
Vaccination history; kitten shots - FVRCP 3/27/23; 5/10/23, rabies 5/22/23
1 year rabies (non adjuvent) April 2024 ;
Treated from 3/16/23 -4/3/23 with: Pyrantel pamoate oral suspension, Panacur liquid, Revolution Plus, Ponazuril, lactated Ringer's sollution, Nystatin Oral Suspension, Famciclovir, Clavamox, Animax ointment, doxycycline oral, Albuterol solution, Cernia nasal drops, Itrafungol 4/23.

Primary problem: Started with bouts of sneezing on evening of 9/10 no purulent discharge from eyes or nose. Veterinary advice (we use a mobile vet service) was monitor for discharge and start L lysine 500 mg twice daily, started on 9/12. Improved markedly until today. Still no noticeable discharge from eyes or nose but sneezing has gone from 3 sneezes yesterday to 8 as of today so far; not sure if this is just a hiccup or does this mean he is relapsing!?? Takes days to a week to get this mobile vet out to the house for problems (which we didn't realize until just now), we originally had hoped to save cats trauma of being hauled to a vet's office for care.

Owner had hip replacement surgery 5 days before onset of symptoms. Had to have walkers and cane brought into home as well as 6 visits from home health care agency

At the moment nothing seems to make it worse/better except for the L lysine. Initially, nose appeared to be very itchy, but not any longer. Not affected by exercise, foods, temperature, excitement, etc. He normally is pretty bullet-proof as far as strangers, noises, new situations.

Other than phone contact with vet, no diagnostic workup has been done for this. Had initial 1 year exam by Dr. Smith (mobile vet) 4/24. Was warned then that because of calicivirus as kitten he would be predisposed to repeat URIs when stressed. No diagnostic workup done to this point as he was improving on L lysine and had no noticeable discharges and continued to eat well.

Previous treatment as above when a kitten in 2023 with calicivirus. L lysine started on 9/12.

No other health concerns. Please note other cat in household showing no symptoms.

There are many triggers to the energy field that could cause sneezing, one being the virus.

Lysine is a great supportive treatment, most likely to be palliative (temporary help). What is needed here is homeopathy or Chinese medicine. See the article on finding a veterinarian. Because of the cat not liking ot go in a car, virtual homeopathy may be the best bet.

Also important is building health and vitality, so maybe explore more of a variety of fresh food, home energy healing (could help the O. heal as well (I gather this is not your cat?), massage, happiness, play, joy.

Flower essences, acupressure, Tellington T touch can be useful

Hey Deborah!

Gizmo says (by his BEAM and "energy") that he's fine.

He just also happens to be sneezy and prone to upper respiratory symptoms.

It sounds like Gizmo's is a "complicated" case. By that I mean that his natural dis-ease (which initially was associated with calicivirus) has been complicated.

As Dr. Christina wrote, energetic treatment would be needed to reduce Gimo's susceptibility to getting these symptoms.

It would be in addition to all of the great lifestyle stuff (like promoting purring, play, happiness, etc.) that you are already doing for his brother.

And maybe some vitamin C and:

Dr. Christina,

Definitely is our kitty. Thank you for all the suggestions. Not sure what "O" is (referenced in 3rd paragraph of your reply)?
