Real Christmas tree or fake better for cats?

My cats (I think like most cats) love to climb the Xmas tree. Is there danger for cats with a real tree? Thank you!

Not from the tree itself.

IMHO, any danger is mainly from any tinsel, lights or ornaments they encounter while climbing.

Also, if a real tree, do not let them drink from the water it sits in.
