Lucy is a 16 YO feline with extremely stubborn IBS along with CKD. The IBS has been very difficult to treat for the past 3-4 years and progressively got worse with 4-5 movements a day with very little form and very smelly. She seemed miserable!!

With the help of Dr. Sue we got her on a 60%-40% wet/dry diet (a former total dry food junkie!) Still didn't help IBS much (but certainly good for her kidneys). As a desperate measure to help her IBS symptoms, we gradually changed her wet ration to 60-70% raw food, which Lucy accepted to our great surprise as she had refused it multiple times before. Even better, her stools became normal with only occasional variation from normal to 80% ; a HUGE improvement! This transformation took 3-4 days. She no longer vocalizes after using the litter box and seems much more comfortable. We knew raw food was best, but had no idea the results could be this dramatic! We are true raw food converts now!

Thanks to both Dr. Sue and Dr. Jeff for their guidance! We couldn't have done it without them! Deborah20150715_165210.jpg

Wonderful, Deborah! And SO much fun to watch:)

Very nice position statement! They hit all the important points. I wish only that every symptomatic development in our dogs could firstly be addressed by a simple prototypical diet for a period. As they say, "Let food be your medicine, and medicine be your food". At best, there will be resolution of many conditions. At the least, a proper foundation of function will be established, upon which any further measures can act more effectively. And "happiness"? You've never seen such happiness as a fully-functioning, appropriately nourished cat or dog:)
