1. Carina, 8 years old, F
2. Spayed
3. Cavalier King Charles
4. 8.7 kg
5. What's their BEAM (behavior, energy, appetite, mood) - good
6. Organic raw grass fed grass finished beef, garlic, potatoes or papaya and I give her supplements as per Anthony William's recommendations ie olive leaf extract, pau d'arco, coQ10, amla extract, barley grass juice powder
7. Rabies shot 1-2 years ago, no other medication
8. Primary problem, when it began and if there was anything else happening around that time. She had dental work done yesterday and they extracted 13 teeth. She is currently taking pain medication as she is recovering. As part of the procedure a cardiologist examined her. See attached. She has now been diagnosed with chronic valve disease and DCM which they say is diet induced. They recommend grains and a medication which I am hesitant to give her. She used to have what the vets believed was IBD. It got really bad and I cured it with celery juice.
9. Is the condition better or worse from exercise, heat, cold, time of day, certain foods, emotional upset, being touched, excitement, etc? I don't know, she just got diagnosed.
10. Has any diagnostic work been done? See attached.
11. Current and previous treatment. IMG_5981.jpegIMG_5982.jpegIMG_5983.jpegIMG_5984.jpegIMG_5985.jpeg
12. Other health concerns. I just want to keep her teeth in good condition. She uses a dental bone (one that was recommended on one of your webinars and I spray her mouth with something Anthony recommended, silver something?) She has periodontal disease. She was also biopsied for tissue growth near her tonsils. See attached.
Can I give Carina something else for her heart? I don't want to give her the medication and grains they prescribed.

Wow, thanks Kirsi for all the great info about Carina.

She won't miss the 13 teeth they extracted.🦷🦷🦷:dog2:😍

Can I give Carina something else for her heart?
Sure! There are lots of great heart-specific supplements like Formula CV from Rx Vitamins:

I also love this special omega-3 and CoQMax (a highly absorbed form of CoQ10) which is from a human company combination:

I use the CoQMax in my practice (and take it myself) and it should soon be available at the homevet.com web store:

Regarding what else you can do, it is very, very effective to start now to energetically optimize her vitality and balance.

A great way to start is by taking the HA! 101 course (which discusses feeding raw meaty bones as one way to optimize dental health).

Also, Dr. Larry Bernstein in FL is (was?) a Cavalier breeder and is a highly skilled vet homeopath you may want to consider adding to your vet care team.

Good luck. Please keep us posted.

Thank you Dr. Jeff. Will the coQ10 replace the pimobendan the cardiologist prescribed? Will it help with her DCM? I'll take the course and reach out to the cavalier vet.

This condition is typical in CKCs; I have a colleague who has had five Cavs that I have known, and chronic heart issues were/are a factor with them all. I would go with everything Dr. Jeff advised, and optimize the diet by eliminating grains AND potatoes, feeding red meat, some fish, like sardines or mackerel - and heart, too, of any species - good quality fish oil, and a variety of a few leafy green veggies, celery, radish - and just a bit, not huge amounts.

Homeopathy is definitely an answer, and Dr. Bernstein is a valuable resource. Please keep us posted; although this condition is common, we can slow its progress, and perhaps forestall its serious nature.

I don't see how a diet rich in red meat which is loaded with taurine could cause DCM. Diets high in vegetable vs animal protein, grains and antinutrients seem to cause that. Mitral valve disease is a bit of a different story, although I believe a diet rich in red meat could be supportive for that. I was wondering if the diet includes a dietary source of calcium, along with the minerals needed for calcium absorption (ie raw meaty bones) or is this covered by one of the supplements?

Will the coQ10 replace the pimobendan t
Great question! No, it is not the same.
Will it help with her DCM?
I don't see evidence of DCM in her report. It does talk a lot about it but I'm not quite sure how it applies to Carina.

Regardless, taurine, carnitine, CoQ, snufffling, homeopathy, etc. will help with her low grade valvular dis-ease. Which is NOT the same as DCM. Though the same strategies help with any heart dis-ease.

2-4 episodes of snuffle mat use per day using freeze-dried chicken heart will also help her happiness, quality of life and heart.

Thanks Dr. Jeff. How much of the coQMax should I give her? And how much Formula CV?

The Formula CV dose is on the bottle. Of the CoQMax 50, perhaps just start with 1/day.

Sounds about right (I don't know the exact dose off hand).
