I think your internist is advising its use to decrease metastatic potential (not direct treatment of the tumor).
Side effects include vomiting, diarrhea, GI bleeding, kidney and liver dis-ease, etc. With that being said, carprofen (Rimadyl) tho is pretty safe when *used as directed*.
