Hello, my apologies but I can not recall the animal behavior therapist's name that works with us on behavior issues...Our 15 yr old Havanese is acting in the same ways we've described in the past where she wakes us for food in the middle of the night and early morning. This behavior is now three times per night/early morning. She also likes to be let out to sniff around. It's like she's not aware of the time of day. We were told here that this is a characteristic of senility/ sun-downing. We're seeking tools to help keep her sleeping through the night since we are sleep deprived and this is affecting our own health.
We've tried the following:
Automatic self feeder (she just scratches at it obsessively.
Many different herbal supplements and tinctures
Homeopathy (per Dr. Herman)
Thanks,
Sheri & David
