Our Niko, eats raw and is an excellent dog-except for the occasional missing chicken or squirrel :). Had a cough as a young pup--dry, non productive cough that I used a homeopathic remedy when he was young for and it responded too. This cough resurfaced this summer (as his brother Cougar has anal tumor)...I read Don Hamilton's book, Homeopathic care for cats and dogs and found the material medica description of phosphorus to be dead on for him .as his constitutional formula. When we wake we get greeted & sung to many mornings, at feedings or when we return home from work--anyhow, I used phosphorus 30 c--1 pellet in 1 cup of water, successed and 1 drop on his gum with Q-tip --I used this for his fear of fireworks Saturday evening and he seemed to settle down and sleep well, not up pacing or frantically panting and we all got a great nights sleep, which is unusual when fireworks are going off. I also notice I have yet to hear his cough either.....so I thought this was worth a mention.
