Hi David.
I believe you should not give your cat the dexamethasone. Steroids are disruptive to overall healing and produce lots of problems down the line. Even a knowledgable conventional doc/vet, if you can find one, will tell you steroids make the condition they are used for worse in the long...
Hi Dr Jeff.
Thanks so much for that.
It’s clear mucus - does that mean it’s unlikely to be an infection?
I’m thinking it’s an allergy-like thing...
There’s no particular stand-out homeopathic remedy I can find. The only real symptom is the mucus. And it’s more of an ongoing thing so I’m...
Thanks so much for the reply, Dr Jeff.
It’s Casper, not Smudge, who’s had trouble with his liver. Casper’s had a bit more bilirubin again in his urine and his abdomen is a bit swollen again. His appetite is a bit less but his BEAM is good otherwise. I gave him some Chelidonium and he’s having a...
My cat Smudge has had a bunged-up right nostril for a little while. He has clear mucus from it, tinged a couple of times with a little bit of blood. When he eats or washes he makes sniffly, snotty noises. He sounds a bit bunged-up sometimes when he’s sleeping.
He first got similar symptoms a...
Hi Lil.
According to Ayurveda, which I think has the most to say about turmeric, I believe that it is considered neither cooling nor warming, but in fact effective at balancing the contrasting energies of the body. I think it’s good for kindling “digestive fire” but that isn’t actually warmth -...
Hi Nicole.
My cat got a cough once around the time I was giving him liquid supplements - so I switched to making up little capsules instead, which go down nicely with a coating of butter, no liquid needed. I think it’s best not to risk liquid going down the wrong way!
As long as the coughing...
Amazing! Such good news.
I wouldn’t worry about the fulvic/humic minerals because it’s low dose but highly bioavailable - it’s basically old earth juice, rich in all the mineral ions from decomposed plants. It’s like shilajit, which is prized in Ayurveda. But I think one should periodically...
I guess so, although I always avoid bones, in case they get stuck in the throat. But oily fish have loads of other benefits too, and those ones are low in mercury.
Do you have a PEMF system? If not, you can get pretty inexpensive ones on Amazon, and it’s a good thing to have anyway. They seem to be able to give the whole body energy. Also, grounding can support the healing process - you can get pretty cheap, good grounding mats/sheets on Amazon. Some...
I’ve not tried ASEA. Have you found it has a beneficial effect?
I used to put eggshell calcium in the cats’ food, based on the idea that you need as much calcium as phosphorus to properly metabolise phosphorus and maintain bone, but I got nervous about the potential downside of excess calcium...
I also think wild Alaskan salmon is really good for iodine, vit d, omega-3s, astaxanthin etc. My cats eats almost entirely chicken thighs and salmon. I think it covers pretty much the whole nutritional spectrum.
Btw did the diarrhoea coincide with the ASEA at all - that’s pretty salty, right?
I think you’re doing everything right - ditching the drugs is the single best thing you can do IMO.
Has he eaten? You could pop some squishy balls of boiled chicken or white fish/salmon at the back of his mouth - they’re gentle, nourishing and healing foods. Not too warming nor cooling.
That’s so good! Hopefully the diarrhoea goes completely! Hot weather can give anyone the shits.
The poo-eating could indicate a slight lack of some mineral, maybe lost through the diarrhoea - there are lots of minerals that are at unnaturally low in the modern food chain, like molybdenum...
That is so fantastic! I’m so glad he’s getting better!!
Is there a discernible difference in his response to his pain when he takes the painkillers versus when he doesn’t?
Hi Sheri.
Does he definitely need the painkillers? Are you sure they make him better? Stopping them - and other drugs - might relieve the kidneys and let his system balance naturally.
One person who is certainly doing well from all those prescriptions is the vet. I remember when a vet...
