Update: it's now 11:47 pm. I have been playing a cat video on YouTube with 528 Hz Healing Music, including cat purring sounds ... and my kitten got the zoomies again and then drank 15 ml of tuna water about half an hour ago ... and now she is eating her raw chicken dinner!
11:51 pm ... she ate...
Excellent appetite this morning but ate nothing at lunchtime. Napped until about 7 pm and I fed tuna water, and my kitten drank about 20 ml. Then about 15 min later put a bit of food in bowl with 1/64 tsp of colostrum. Didn't want it but was able to hand feed. Went outside on the balcony for...
I need guidance, my 12-week old kitten is not wanting to eat at all at lunchtime. I've been giving goat kefir in the morning, 1 teaspoon before breakfast since last Sunday, along with a raw diet, still giving 1/8 tsp of probiotics morning and evening, and has had excellent appetite until all of...
I would really appreciate getting clarity about Vitamin E. The food manufacturer from where I get my kitten's commercial raw food recommends adding fresh fish oil to the food when serving it. Two sources I have come across say that when adding fish oil, it is important to supplement with Vitamin...
Thank you so much Ginny ... I really need and appreciate all of this community support. About leftovers, this is very reassuring...that it was not a bad thing to leave the food out like I did. And yes, that's a great idea, I can pick out some of the pieces of bone and leave them out.
Thank you for sharing. Come to think of it, I left out my kitten's food bowl with raw chicken longer than I should have. This past Thursday, at dinner time, only half was eaten after leaving it out for 5-10 minutes. As I was putting it away, I thought of leaving it out for another 5-10 minutes...
Update: I now realize it would be best to discontinue the slippery elm. I started again adding this herb to food bowl as of Thursday evening, and the last two bowel movements were only 12 hours apart ... this time the stools were darker in color, still dry and crumbly but not as crumbly as...
Thanks for the input but I am not in a capacity to handle a homemade diet. So it would be great if one of the veterinarians on this forum could please let me know a way around softening my kitten's stools...that would be so very much appreciated
I'm concerned that it would not be that simple. I wouldn't know how much meat to add and it would unbalance the proportion of muscle meat to organ meat ... and I may inadvertently end up with calcium level too low
Oh dear, now that I stopped adding slippery elm at meal time, my kitty's stools are dry and crumbly ... Dr. Christina says it's an indication of too much bone in the diet.
However, I'm giving my kitty commercial raw food and so I can't adjust the bone content. At my recent visit to the vet for...
I would like to receive guidance to make sure I’m giving my 10-week old kitten a balanced diet and supporting regular bowel movements. Here is my current practice:
100% commercial raw food, with right proportions of muscle meat, organ meat(s) and bones
Rotating meat sources, alternating between...
Thank you Dr. Jean. It is very comforting to receive your input. Hopefully, Bodhi's sphincter will grow stronger after I fully transition him to the raw diet.
About the Vaseline, I would imagine that he will regularly be swallowing my hair ... likely licking my head during the night. I'm...
It is so very reassuring to be part of this wonderful pet community. Thank you Dr. Jean for your guidance.
There is this incidence that occurred this morning and I don't know what to make of it.
As of Thursday, Bodhi has consistently defecated 3 firm (but not hard) stools in the morning...
Thank you Dr. Jean for this information. Bodhi had three nice stools this morning. I will give him the Friskies pate mixed in with the raw food. Here is my transition plan, does this sound right: 75% old diet and 25% new diet for three days; 50% hold diet and 50 % new diet for three days; 25%...
