I agree with both Dr. Jeff's suggestions - but my first thought is that she needs a more canine-appropriate diet: meat, and less carbs. This should also help with the thyroid levels. This needn't be health-food level stuff; even supermarket beef, lamb, etc. will be OK for starters. But a decent...
Well, I'm a great believer in variety and maintaining dietary flexibility. So I would tend to not be so strict about intervals between switching - feed what you've got, and then feed something else. Switch up as often as every day, or hang with an item she likes for a few days. Unless she is a...
Some remedy "pictures" are more obvious than others:), so not a surprise when two homeopaths recognize a remedy in a case. It's also important to let the chosen remedy work fully, not repeating or changing until progress slows or stops. The energy each imparts is unique, and, once given - maybe...
Found myself reviewing "fear" remedies, as I was driving around today... I remember helping a few dogs, way back before I had the proper respect:) Worked, though...Ever notice that even THINKING about giving a remedy can produce a nice result? Gotta love homeopathy.
The wafers are from PetLab, just called Probiotic Chews. He is also getting, alternatively, Animal Biome's Gut Maintenance Plus, a small capsule which I choose to open into his food. This one doesn't produce an odor:) Yeah, the PetLab wafers did their thing again the other day: today I drove...
Honestly, only a monster would insist upon vax for these guys. Perhaps you can find a vet who would write an exemption for them, on health issues. Homeopathic remedies do not, can not, confer "immunity" - although chances are that if these guys have had previous vaccinations they are still quite...
I'd think that you need to figure out if there is anything you might discover that would make a difference right now... It sounds as if he has the best possible quality of life already, with your lovely treatments and his activities. What are the various discoveries, and where would they lead...
I get my tripe products from greentripe.com. I have known these guys since day one of their business, almost literally, and have followed their evolution to the present dedicated facility which does, in fact, use only grassfed tripes straight from the butcher. The meat, by law, cannot be...
You'd have to ask them re the MSG... I don't know if this could be pertinent, but my dog's breath goes off each time he eats his favorite probiotic wafers. Clears up in two days, doesn't affect his teeth - and other chews don't produce that particular odor.
I've mentioned this previously, but...
I'm pretty impressed with Raw Wild:) I can live with the tiny bit of supplementation - but, heck, I just think I can do as well much less expensively. It's lovely quality meat, though...
A couple of things come to mind: If you tweak her diet to achieve a result you will be masking a predilection valuable in prescribing an appropriate homeopathic remedy. She needs to present just as she is, under reasonably normal conditions.
And, along these lines, a well-chosen homeopathic...
I second the recommendation for working with a qualified homeopath - not simply a "holistic" vet, within whose range a whole bunch of more-or-less modalities fall. Hers is a fairly classic situation - not something fully treatable with a symptomatic medicine, but a deep and chronic condition...
I would look at not focusing on lacks, but upon varying her diet overall, to introduce more flexibility from her digestive processes. Perhaps also vary amounts and timing, and skip or postpone a few meals now and then. Canids are not designed to eat all day long, even in small amounts - and they...
No muss, no fuss here...we use Teef!, and also Probright tooth powder (from PetLab) in his meals. No brushing needed:) I have great faith in the science behind Teef! We also feed lots of bones...
How about feeding just a bit of dry, in with whatever else she might find attractive? Hunger can be a positive motivation. Raw proteins in tiny amounts could be more attractive. How about feeding more opportunistically, like leaving a bit of something in a unexpected place or time? The dry...
Animals, even those who have suffered insults or trauma in previous situations, don't need a heck of a lot of "fancy" adjuncts to get them started. You have all provided the most important and valuable thing already: love and caring. I would advise keeping things quite simple for a while, if not...
Wow, that's an awesome article! I strongly second working with a great homeopath. I have seen some amazing resolutions in complicated cases like this, in my own dogs and others. She is strong and vital, and just needs a little "guidance" on the systemic level.
Blessings on you for helping her...
